I often have people who contact me and ask me about the time frame for douching when you’re tying to influence whether you conceive a girl or a boy baby. Examples are things like: “I’m trying for a girl baby. Do I douche right after sex?” Or, “if want a boy, when in my cycle should I start douching?” The answers to these questions vary depending on the situation, but I will attempt to clarify this more in the following article.
Why Is Douching An Important Part Of Gender Selection Anyway?: In a nutshell, women douche because they are trying to change or tweak their PH. An acidic PH favors having a girl baby (since this environment isn’t friendly to boy producing sperm.) Likewise, an alkaline PH would favor conceiving a boy. Keep in mind that the whole point of douching is to change the environment that affects (or in some cases kills off) the sperm before it has a chance to fertilize the egg.
Any Changes To PH (Including Douching) Should Happen Before Having Sex: I’ve had people tell me that they’ve been advised to douche after having sex. I really don’t understand this. To me, it’s seems as if this is already too late. It’s said that some sperm can make it the egg in only half an hour, while others take around two hours. So, some of the sperm would’ve already begun their journey (and perhaps even reached their destination) before you even begin the douching process. To me, this is too little too late.
What I Believe Is The Best Time To Douche When Trying To Conceive: Frankly, I don’t believe in feeling your way in the dark when you can educate yourself about exactly where you’re starting. I typically advise couples to test the mom-to-be with PH testers well before they want to conceive. In fact, weeks or as much as a month before is a good guideline because it gives you the time to make any necessary changes. It allows the woman to know where she’s starting so she can begin her regimen right away. Plus, she can continue to test to see what’s working best for her and what’s not. Incidentally, many people find that if they combine both diet and douching, they will get quicker results.
Basically, you’ll want to test yourself early, make the necessary adjustments, test again, and then continue to test regularly to make sure that you are maintaining your optimal level. To me, this is much preferable approach than trying to scramble at the last minute and then not giving yourself enough time to reach your optimal reading (and that level will depend on if you are trying to conceive a boy or a girl.)
Finally, I know that old wives tales suggest douching with vinegar or baking soda solutions. I believe that you can do better than this. I often feel that the best douche for the situation depends on the woman’s reading and also if she’ll be including diet in her regimen.
And one more thing. Douching is a very important part of gender selection. Your PH is either going to be friendly or hostile to those baby making sperm. You want to make sure that you’re discouraging the ones you don’t want and encouraging those that you do want. But, PH isn’t the only consideration. To have the greatest chance for success, you’ll want to also address and tweak your timing and sexual positions.
